Christmas Wishes

Hello everyone!

I wanted to extend my very best wishes to you all for the Christmas Holidays and the New Year!

I hope you all have the best time that you can.

I have really enjoyed my time working with the children and staff at Stoke on Tern and especially in Hawkstone Class.  The children have made me smile every day.  It has been a pleasure to have them.  It is however only ‘Au revoir’ and not ‘goodbye’ as I am looking forward to visiting and helping out now and again.

Once again……my very best wishes for your Christmas Holidays.

Kindest Regards

Corinne Burford xxx

Wednesday 29th September

Hello everyone!

We can’t quite believe we are 4 weeks into our first half term in Hawkstone Class now.  Time just passes by so quickly.  The children are continuing to settle well and are becoming more aware of our daily routines at school.  They all seem happy, content and confident in their surroundings.

We have been learning lots over the past few weeks.  As well as learning about our school, we have been busy with our Marvellous Me topic.  The children have created their own self portraits this week and we have also been finding out about how we grow like other living things.  They have all enjoyed their sorting, matching and pairing activities during our Maths time.  The children also had fun this week labelling body parts to be displayed on our ‘Marvellous Me’ board in class.  They find the Funnybones stories really ‘funny’ of course as the skeletons get up to all sorts of mischief.

As always, if you have any questions or need anything.  Any of us in EYFS will be happy to help.

Take care

From all the staff in Hawkstone Class

Catching up

Hello everyone!

I just wanted to say hello and let you all know that the children in Hawkstone Class are settling in really nicely.  It’s been lovely to begin to get to know them all.  It’s their first full week this week so I expect they are quite tired.  All of the children have been getting to know their new teachers; their surroundings in the classroom; our play area and the rules and routines here at Stoke on Tern. They are really enjoying having their lunch in the hall too.

Next Monday we will begin to explore our outdoor learning area so could I ask that children bring their waterproofs and wellies in for then please if they are not here already.   I’ll let you know how that goes but the children usually love their time there.

That’s all for now but we’ll keep in touch.  If you need anything, any one of us in Hawkstone will be happy help.

Take care

Mrs Burford

Monday 6th September

Welcome to the new school year everyone!

We have had a lovely few days in Little Wenlock and Hawkstone Class.  The new children are settling in beautifully and we are so impressed with how well they are adapting to school life.

The children who know us well have enjoyed helping out and showing their new friends around and we have had fun getting to know all of the new children.

We will keep you updated regularly about activities and events but if you have any questions, just speak to any one of us in EYFS and we’ll try our best to help.

Take care everyone

Kind regards from the EYFS team

Mrs Burford, Mrs Turner, Mrs Tinkler, Mrs Bryan, Miss Sirett, Mrs James and Miss Thompson.

Hello everyone!

This is just a little message sending you my very best wishes and to say how much I have enjoyed working with the children and staff in Hawkstone and Little Wenlock over the last year.  I’m sad to go but also send Mrs. Turner a big welcome back from maternity leave.  The children are all looking forward to seeing her.

Take care all

Fine motor activities and cutting skills

Here is a choice of fine motor activities to try depending on what you have available to use.

Have a go at making this toilet roll and straw activity.  The picture shows straws but you could use dried spaghetti, pipe cleaners or any other craft items you might have at home.

If you prefer, try this haircut activity with child friendly scissors.

Another idea for threading is to use a colander as below.  This shows pipe cleaners but you could use anything you have to hand such as; wool or string to encourage use of those fine motor skills.

You could of course try all three ideas if you feel up to it!  Have fun!
