A quick update.

Dear Parents/Carers,

I am delighted to share how well the children have done this week, especially during a very busy SATs period for Year 6. Their hard work, focus, and excellent behaviour have been truly impressive, and we are proud of their commitment to their learning.

A few updates for you:

  • Several letters have been circulated regarding after-school clubs, including tennis, football, and Creation Station.
  • Information has also been shared about the whole school trip to Bewilderwood. Please check details and let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you for your continued support with TT Rockstars and spellings. I understand how busy home life can be, and just a little, often, makes a big difference.

As noted earlier, Year 4 will have a times tables assessment in June. We will provide further guidance to support them in preparing for it.

Spellings check Monday – unusual, suggestion, valuable, curiosity, separate, criticise, desperate, restaurant, government, explanation, familiar and patience.

No spellings over the term break, instead, they have a check next Friday, on the following: comparison, recognition, significant, vocabulary, competition and environment.

If you have any questions about the above, please don’t hesitate to ask. Thank you again for all your support!

A big thank you!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We wanted to take a moment to thank you for your ongoing support with your children’s spelling practice. Even over the course of this week, we’ve seen fantastic progress, and the children are already beginning to use their newly learned words in their work. Your encouragement at home truly makes a difference!

To celebrate their efforts, we’ve handed out plenty of raffle tickets, and we will be picking winners for small prizes on Monday following our spelling check. The excitement has been wonderful to see!

Additionally, we’re really pleased with the dedication all the children are showing on TT Rockstars. Their hard work will undoubtedly help support Year 4 as they prepare for the DfE test in June and Year 5 with their ongoing learning.

Thank you all once again for your continued support. Wishing you an enjoyable weekend.

Mr. Loftus

Welcome back!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are always looking for ways to support children’s learning, and we know that spelling can sometimes be a tricky area. While many children are making great progress in identifying and correcting spelling errors in class, some words continue to be misspelled. To help reinforce correct spelling habits, we are offering voluntary spelling homework as an additional opportunity for extra practice.

Correct spelling not only improves written communication but also plays a significant role in boosting children’s confidence in their abilities. As they advance in their education, feeling secure in their spelling skills will help them express ideas fluently and clearly in writing.

We understand that family schedules are busy, with many commitments including TT Rockstars and other activities. This is why spelling homework is completely voluntary—there is no pressure or obligation to complete it. Instead, this is an opportunity for children to engage with spelling improvement at their own pace, in a way that fits their learning style.  To that end, the spellings are introduced on Tuesday and reviewed on the following Monday.

By working together as teachers and carers, we can provide additional tools to help children develop their skills and thrive both in and out of the classroom. We appreciate your ongoing support and encourage you to explore this option with your child if you feel it would be beneficial.

Thank you for your partnership in their learning journey!

Kind regards,

Mr. Loftus

The week ahead.

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to share some of the fantastic learning happening in class! As part of our space topic, the children have been working on non-chronological reports, diving into fascinating facts and showcasing their research and writing skills. They are also completing their dramatic diary entries as Yuki, the main character from our current text, which has sparked so much creativity and emotion.

A significant focus this term has been on fostering independence. The children have been taking ownership of their work, from planning to execution, and are now reflecting on their achievements. They’ll be identifying what has worked well, what could be improved, and how they would approach tasks differently in the future—valuable skills for both their academic journey and personal growth.

We kindly ask for your continued support in encouraging the children to use TT Rockstars regularly. This not only boosts their math skills but also helps build their confidence—something we are seeing reflected in their classroom engagement.

Thank you for your ongoing support in your child’s learning journey. It truly makes a difference!

Weekly update

Dear Parents/Carers,

I wanted to take a moment to commend the children on their fantastic attitude and effort during their English and Maths assessments last week. They worked incredibly hard, demonstrating great focus and maturity. Many used their time effectively and showed impressive responsibility by checking and rechecking their work where needed.

We also had a wonderful time in our art lesson, where the children explored nature-themed drawings using non-natural colours. The results were fantastic—some very vivid and creative pieces were produced! With our English we are continuing to explore the ISS and using our book, Koji’s Island, work on our techniques when implementing speech in character and setting development.

In Maths, we are continuing to practise our times tables using TT Rockstars, working towards 3-9 minutes per day, 5 times a week makes a massive difference. This will benefit all the children, especially our Year 4 pupils, who have their standardised multiplication check in June. A letter has been sent home with all the relevant information, but please don’t hesitate to get in touch if you have any questions.

Thank you for your ongoing support.

Enjoy the weekend!

Good afternoon,

It has been another fun week, and we are so proud of the children’s positive attitude towards their learning! Their confidence and fluency with times tables are really improving—it’s wonderful to see their hard work paying off. Please encourage TTRockstars use, it makes a real difference. The ‘Soundcheck’ mode on the app will be particularly helpful, and I’ve set it to be available between 7:30 am and 7:30 pm.

We also had some very special visitors this week—two calves and a Jersey cow! The children were fascinated and loved the experience of seeing them up close.

World Book Day was a great success, with some truly amazing outfits on display! There was lots of lively discussion about what makes a great book, and it was fantastic to see such enthusiasm for reading. The children started a fun story in class, and if they’d like to, they can finish it over the weekend. We can’t wait to hear their creative ideas!

Thank you for your continued support, and have a wonderful weekend.

Mr. Loftus

Welcome back!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your support in helping the children engage with TT Rockstars. Their enthusiasm for practising times tables has been fantastic, and it’s wonderful to see their confidence growing.

The children have settled back into school routines well and are adapting positively to the new seating arrangements. It’s great to see them working collaboratively and embracing the changes with enthusiasm.

In English, we have been exploring different forms of poetry, focusing on techniques linked to nature. The children have enjoyed experimenting with language and creating their own poetic work.

A quick reminder that library books are changed on Monday afternoons, so please ensure books are returned in time for the swap.

Y4 Maths Homework is to be back on Wednesday.

Thank you,

Mr. Loftus

Have a lovely half-term

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we reach the end of a busy half term, I wanted to take a moment to thank you for your continued support. It has been wonderful to see the children’s hard work and enthusiasm in class.

I am pleased to share that behaviour in class has been improving, and we have been focusing on taking pride in the quality and neatness of our written work. It has been encouraging to see them taking ownership of their learning in this way.

In your child’s school bag, you will find a letter about TT Rockstars, a fun and engaging times tables game. The children have logged in and explored it in class, and if they would like to continue getting used to it over half term, they are more than welcome to do so.

Year 4 Maths is to be returned by Wednesday and a number of children have taken home part of a gothic-style story, which they requested and they can finish if they want.  I’m looking forward to see where their creativity and imagination takes them.

End of week update.

End of Week Update – Exciting Progress!

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had another fantastic week in class, and the children have been working incredibly hard!

In Y4 Maths, we are nearing the end of our focus on the 3, 6, and 9 times tables, and the children have shown great resilience and determination in mastering these multiplication facts. Their confidence is growing, and we are looking forward to increasing their fluency in the forthcoming week. Please continue to use the sites I referred to last week for support at home.  We will launch Times table Rockstars after the half-term, using it in class with the option to do so at home.

In English, the children have produced some wonderful written letters, inspired by our class book Escape from Pompeii. They stepped into the shoes of Tranio, writing to a friend about the terrifying eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Their writing has been truly impressive, with fantastic use of prepositions and fronted adverbials to bring their descriptions to life. We are so proud of their creativity and effort!

Thank you for your continued support—have a lovely weekend!

Happy Friday Housman

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’ve had a wonderful and engaging week in class, filled with exciting learning opportunities and memorable experiences!

In Geography, the children thoroughly enjoyed exploring reproduction in flowers, taking part in a fascinating dissection activity to see the different parts up close. Their curiosity and enthusiasm made for some fantastic discussions and discoveries!

The highlight of the week was undoubtedly the trip to ‘Young Voices’ in Birmingham. The energy and excitement were incredible, and the children sang their hearts out, creating unforgettable memories as part of this amazing event.

In English, we have continued our journey with Escape from Pompeii, working together to craft some fabulous speech sandwiches, demonstrating great teamwork and creativity in our written dialogue.
