Morning Work: 

See how much you know about 3D shapes. Try on your own at first and then get an adult to help you. (We haven’t learnt about 3D shapes this year yet).

Mathematics: 

Year 1: Odd and Even Numbers

Explain to the children that an even number can be split into two equal groups e.g. the number 4 can be split into two equal groups of 2. Whereas an odd number can’t e.g. 5 makes a group of 3 and a group of 2.

To begin with, we help the children see this by using numicon resources and seeing if they have an ‘even top’. Watch the clip to learn more about this.

Activity: Get the children to draw two circles and labels them ODD and EVEN. Then cut out the numicon pictures provided and put them in the right circle!

Year 2: You are looking at consolidating what we have learnt so far this term. Please complete the addition and subtraction sheet below.

Writing: 

In line with our letter writing focus, today you could write a letter to Santa. Make sure you write this address on the front of the envelope so it gets to him. They must be posted by 11th December. Get writing!

Read your favourite story to your family member.

Mathematics: 

Year 1: Today the children will be looking at number lines. Get the children to draw these number lines with the mistakes on in their book and write underneath what is wrong with them and why.

Get the children to make their own large blank number line and some separate number cards. Play a few games where you try to guess where the numbers would go on the number line. Where would 5 go on the number line? How do you know?

Year 2: Please complete this written activity on counting forwards and back!

Writing: 

Above is a character description for the BFG. Choose your favourite book character and try to write your own character description. Parents, please remind your children they can ‘magpie’ from this example and use the sentences changing parts to fit their character.

Comprehension: 

Choose your favourite book and answer these questions in your remote learning book.

1. Who is the main character?
2. Why do you like this book?
3. Is the ending happy or sad? Why?
4. What happens at the end of the book?
5. How does this book make you feel and why?

Outdoor Adventure: 

This afternoon the children normally have the chance to go down to the conservation area. Take this session to spend some time outside, here are some options.

PSHE: 

As we are exploring respectful relationships this term, could you please make a colourful and artistic wanted poster for a new friend! You must include; what makes a good friend, the things you want from a friend and what you will do for that friend in return.

Morning All; here is todays suggested timetable below. 

Morning Work: 

Can you answer these questions about prior learning in your remote learning book.

1. Why do we celebrate Walter Tull in history?
2. How many ways can we make 10? E.g. one way is 9 + 1 = 10
3. Why do we write our address at the top of a letter?

Mathematics: 

Year 1: Today the children are going to recap ‘5 and a bit’ e.g. 5 + 1 = 6. 5 + 2 = 7 and so on. Have a go at copying the part-part whole diagrams into your books and completing them. See if there are any more 5 and a bit part part wholes you could do. Copy the word problems into your book and see if you can answer them.

Year 2: Focus – Doubling

See if you can write down all the doubles you know already. Next, watch this clip to see if there’s any you missed!

Written activity: See if you can make your own flip chart using doubles on the top and the answers underneath like this picture! 

Spellings: 

Write your spellings into a spelling spiral to help you practice them!

Writing:

Today you will be writing your letter to your friend who has broken their toy. Yesterday you will have planned out the things you might say in your letter using the bullet point model letter to help you. Try to write the whole letter today on your own, having a go at spellings on your own.

• write a solution to fixing their toy or helping with their broken toy
• sign on and off

Morning Work:

Use this picture to write the beginning of a story. The beginning of a story is where we meet the characters and setting of the story. Focus on punctuation.

Mathematics:

As part of time the children need to know the months of the year, days of the week. Today, I would like the children to learn these.

Discuss how we know what month we are in: weather? calendar? Get the children to look at a calendar online or a hard copy.

Activity: Have a go are making a paper chain and write the months of the year on each chain. Do the same for days of the week.

Today we will focus on learning the new sound e_e split diagraph. It sounds like this /ee/. See if you can write these words containing the e_e split diagraph.

Today we are going to carry on working on letter writing. Tomorrow we are going to write a letter to a friend who has broken one of their toys so this session you are going to write bullet points for how you plan to write your letter tomorrow.

The model bullet point letter is below; I would like you to write your own bullet point letter just like mine! Remember to put your address at the top so they can reply and use the signing on and off you learnt last week!

Read a book you have at home and see if you can write down the main points of the story and retell it to a member of your family!

Physical Education: 

There are lots of ways you can keep fit indoors. The children have been exploring football this term so if you have a football and space in your garden to practice dribbling and keeping control of the ball, this would be a great time.

Alternatively, if that isn’t possible here is another great way to keep fit indoors!

Art: 

A picture says a thousand words.. and always cheers someone up!

Create a lovely picture using lots of colour (if you have paints you could practice the colour mixing we learnt last term) and give it to a family member or hang it in your window for everyone to see!

The end of a mad week!! It’s Friday!!! 

Here is todays suggested timetable:

Morning Work: 

To begin the day, please could you get your children to write 3 sentences independently. Once they have finished spend time going over what they have written; have they used capital letters and finger spaces? (ALL) Have they used a conjunction? (Y2, and, but because, so) Then choose one sentence and help them to make it a wow sentence so add a conjunction or change the word ‘good’ to ‘brilliant’ etc.

Mathematics: ALL

This term we have been looking at money. The children know about all coins and notes up to £50. For this session, the children should be given the chance to handle money (hopefully you’ll get it back!!) and try to make different combinations of money.

Can they make £4 using coins?

Can they make £10 using coins?

Can they make £13?

The children can record making different amounts in their remote learning book by either writing the combinations or drawing the coins with values in the middle. £2 + £2 + £2 = £6. Please remind them to use the £ and p symbols!

Spellings: 

It’s spelling test day! I have decided to keep uploading spellings each week onto the spelling section of our page so that the children can keep learning new spellings. If you take a look on the weekly timetable I have dedicated two sessions a week to spelling practise (you can practise more outside of school hours like normal). Writing:

We are following a book called the Story Machine this term and we plan to write a letter and design our own story machines to write about! So today we will be looking more at writing a letter and how to sign on and off.

Show the children these example letters and get them to point out where they think the writer is introducing themselves and saying goodbye. What words have they used to do this? Discuss how you would verbally say hello and goodbye to someone. Is it the same when writing a letter?

Design and Technology: 

This term we are looking at wheels and axels. Our aim this term is to learn skills to help us to make a toy car from a cardboard toilet roll tube. Much like the pictures below! So we are prepared, please could you begin to save toilet roll tubes (2) some milk bottle tops (4) and you will need 2 straws or equivalents . These will be used next week. 

This week, the children will be designing their car models ready for next week. Think about the materials you do have to make a toy car to use them for your design.

Please use the advice I posted yesterday on the main class page to help you to ask your child questions which would further their reading comprehension and also the activities provided on the main page.

Spellings:

Year 1: This week we are learning a new sound. Split Diagraph a_e – it makes the /ay/ sound. Watch the clip for more and pause it to have a go at the spelling in the clip.

Year 2: You are looking at a soft g sounds – making it sounds like a /j/. Watch this clip to find out more about the soft g and then use this to practice your spellings.

Explore the outdoors:

As wednesday is our outdoor adventure day, you should explore your own outdoors! The children should focus today on flowers; specifically the poppy today as its remembrance day. What flowers do you have in your garden? Use some paper and crayons to draw the flowers in your garden.

Once you are done, you can create your own poppy flowers to display in your garden or windows in your house. Here is a tutorial on how to create your own poppies; all your need is red paper, glue, scissors and a pen.

PSHE:

Personal, social, health education is very important in times like these. Therefore i have put together some mindfullness activities the children can do for the remainder of the day to keep them calm.
