Autumn Term

We’re very much looking forward to welcoming all of our pupils back to school on Wednesday, as we begin a new academic year full of possibilities.

To help ease to the transition and strengthen our home-school partnerships, we warmly invite parents and carers to drop in for an informal chat with class teachers on Tuesday 2nd September (between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.). This is an opportunity to ask questions, share any thoughts ahead of the term or to just drop in and say hello!

Tag Rugby Celebrations

A huge congratulations to the Tag Rugby team who came second out of ten teams in a tournament at Market Drayton Junior School.

The team demonstrated, not only their incredible skills, but also a resilient attitude, excellent sportsmanship and brilliant teamwork.  The conditions weren’t the greatest but they assure me that they have warmed up now!

Well done team I am very proud of you all.

Cross Country

A huge well done to all the children who took part in the cross country competition yesterday.  The children showed such resilience and really cheered each other on to complete the course.  The distance is quite something when they aren’t used to running that far and over varying terrain!

We had lots of high placed individual children which was great to see.  Unfortunately, due to being a small school it is hard to compete against the larger schools in terms of having the volume of runners to make up a team for the team competitions. However, the year 3 team finished 3rd over all and the year 4 team also finished 3rd out of 7 schools.  I am very proud of everyone who took part, I’m sure they were very tired Thursday evening!

New Sports Equipment

We recently purchased some new sports equipment. Here is after school club testing out the new indoor volley ball, boccia and agility ladder. The children have also been enjoying the new playground equipment. I’m sure lots of fun will be had with it all!

KS2 Cross Country at Oswestry

Back in October, four pupils finished in top 6 positions at an inter school cross country competition against local schools. This qualified for them to compete against other runners who had also qualified in North Shropshire schools at Oswestry last week. Three out of the four runners finished in the top 10 with one pupil qualifying for a third round to compete against runners who have also qualified across Shropshire.

I am really proud of the determination and resilience the pupils displayed in a tough race over slippy, hilly terrain. Well done guys!

Football Tournament

Well done to our football team who competed in a tournament at Market Drayton Junior school yesterday. They were up against schools we hadn’t played against before and really held their own finishing 3rd in their group.

This was the last competition of the school year and I’d like to congratulate every single child who has been involved in the sports competitions throughout the year, whether that be inter school or inter house. The level of PE and sport is improving each year and I’m already excited for next year.

Sports Day

What a fantastic day we all had yesterday! The weather was great and the children all demonstrated excellent team work and sportsmanship. It was lovely to watch the older children working together and helping the younger children. I think from the smiles on everyone’s faces that a lot of fun was had by all.

Thank you to everyone who came to watch and gave up time to help and to the PTA and Mr and Mrs Chatha for providing refreshments.
