Our Cricket Team

We attended a cricket tournament at Whitchurch Cricket Club along with 8 other schools. Although we didn’t win, our bowling, batting and catching was admired by many. As always, the children represented the school outstandingly and demonstrated the school games values consistently. Well done team!

Swimming Gala Winners.

For the first time in over 10 years our swimming team won the small schools swimming gala. I am so proud of all the swimmers. Their determination and team work shone through on the day. A further celebration, as Archie and Taylor have been selected to represent North Shropshire at the next swimming gala. What an achievement!

Rounders Tournament

The Rounders team attended a tournament at Market Drayton Junior School this morning. Unfortunately, the rain stopped play after two matches. However, our team played exceptionally well, making really good decisions and working together to win both of these matches. We will now wait to see whether a third match will be needed to determine who proceeds to the play offs on Tuesday.

Well done to the team players.

Cross Country Level 2

Two second round sports competitions in one week!  The children have been very busy.

Four children, who finished in the top 6 at the area cross country competition back in October, qualified for the second round races that took place in Oswestry on Friday. They were competing against approximately 30 children in their category. The route was very hilly and slippy, not to mention extremely cold! The children all tried their hardest and put in fantastic performances. I am proud of you all.

Gymnastics Final

The gymnasts travelled to Ellesmere Primary School to take part in the gymnastics final on Wednesday. They were competing against other schools who had won their area gymnastics competition. Nerves were high, but I am so proud of how the team performed under pressure to finish 3rd out of 7 teams. There was only 0.3 between the winners, second and third! A very tight competition. The judges remarked that it was the highest standard of gymnastics they’ve seen in a level 2 competition. What an achievement!

Sportshall Athletics

Our sportshall athletics team went to Maurice Chandler to take part in a number of track and field events against 11 other schools.  The children all tried their best and were very supportive of each other. It was lovely to see them cheering each other on and congratulating other schools. Well done team.

Stoke City Football Trials

A small number of boys attended a training session with Stoke City at the Grove School on Thursday evening. Well done to everyone who attended. They all thoroughly enjoyed themselves and some children were invited to further training with the club. Congratulations to George, Mason and Reece, good luck at the next training sessions.

Gymnastics Competition

The children from years 3 and 4 travelled to Market Drayton Junior School to participate in a gymnastics competition against 12 other schools. They had to complete a floor and vault routine which was marked out of 10 by two different judges.  As you can see from the score card below, they did exceptionally. They won! This means they have qualified to compete in the next round. Well done team, I am so proud of your hard work and all your practicing.
