This homework is to read about the discovery of the Shang Dynasty; it has been sent home on paper today. This can be handed in on Wednesday, at the latest.

There are two homework tasks this week. A maths task, which is to be handed in on Monday and a history task, which needs to be completed and brought into school on Thursday at the latest.

This task is to prepare for our next history lesson and needs to be handed in on Thursday at the latest. The task is to find the specified information about the ‘Silk Road’ (sometimes called the ‘Silk Route’). The sheet below details what the children need to find out. (This has been sent home in paper format).

Reading homework: Year 5 and 6.

This week’s reading homework is to read and discuss the poem, ‘In Flanders Fields’. (A copy has been glued into the children’s reading journals). They need to read the poem aloud, several times, and discuss the meaning of the poem with an adult. They should answer the following questions in their reading journal:

What is this poem about?

What do the words ‘quarrel’ and ‘foe’ mean?

Who lies in Flanders Fields?

How does this poem make you feel when you read it? Use quotes from the poem to explain your answer.

Read the poem aloud to an adult and ask them to write a comment about your reading in your journal.

This week’s homework is two reading tasks, which have been sent home on paper. Unfortunately, I do not have digital versions of this homework available but I have posted two replacement reading tasks which could be used, should the original versions be lost, below.

The children need to read the text through at least once and then answer the questions. It would be helpful for children to highlight or under line the section of the text where they found the answer.

I will collect this homework in on Monday 4th November.

Year 6 Maths Homework.

This week, Year 6 pupils have been reviewing multiplication methods and have started revising factors and multiples. The maths homework this week is to solve some missing number puzzles using the clues given.

Year 5 & 6 English Homework.

The children’s English homework is to read aloud to an adult at home, least three times before next Wednesday. I have added a recording sheet into the diaries for children, or yourselves, to complete. I will collect the reading journals in on Wednesday morning.

There are two tasks to complete this weekend; a reading task and a maths task. (The maths task below is for the Year 6 pupils – Mrs. Brotherhood will have handed out the Year 5 homework already.)

This week, we have spent some time looking at rounding. This week’s homework is to complete questions 1 – 8 in the booklet below. (A paper copy has been sent home along with last week’s marked homework.) The booklet below contains additional questions, should the children wish to challenge themselves! I have also posted a link to some short videos for support.
