Letter formation support

We are working really hard in Hawkstone on our letter formation. Please help your child to form their letters correctly and support them with any sheets they bring home. Letter formation needs frequent practice in Reception and as they move into Year 1 and 2, it needs to be regularly revisited. I have attached some videos to help your child to form them correctly. We will inform you through Tapestry of the letters we are practising each week.

Homework in Hawkstone Class

In reception children will not receive homework. Instead, we ask for reading to be a priority at home. We encourage reading to your child as much as possible to support their learning. In Autumn 2, children in reception start to bring home reading books. These books are linked to the Little Wandle Phonics Scheme and the books are matched to the phonics that your child has learnt so far during lessons. We ask for parents and carers to read with their child every day and to sign their reading record daily. As part of the Little Wandle Phonics scheme children will also bring home a ‘reading for pleasure’ book which they choose from our classroom book corner. We do not expect the children to be able to read this book instead it is a book to be enjoyed and shared with a family member.
