Letter formation support

We are working really hard in Hawkstone on our letter formation. Please help your child to form their letters correctly and support them with any sheets they bring home. Letter formation needs frequent practice in Reception and as they move into Year 1 and 2, it needs to be regularly revisited. I have attached some videos to help your child to form them correctly. We will inform you through Tapestry of the letters we are practising each week.

Reading Challenge

The children are trying very hard with their reading and many are reading regularly at home. Please remember to write in their diary when you have heard them read. They will be receive a prize if they have read three times in a week. ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Writing competition.

Here are our writing winners from last term. Well done, both!

This month’s writing prompt is ‘Space’. You can write a poem, a fact file, a story – whatever takes your fancy as long as it is linked to the theme of space!

Easter fun

We had great fun today taking part in the Easter bonnet parade. The standard this year was incredible and the children enjoyed looking at all of the fantastic bonnets from the other classes. Hawkstone class have also taken part in an Easter egg hunt this week and had a visit from some adorable lambs. They have had a lovely week to finish off a fantastic term. Happy Easter!

Some very cute visitors in Hawkstone Class

We have been very lucky to have some very cute visitors into Hawkstone Class this half term. Lucy and her family gave us a talk on their bucket of chicks and the children couldn’t wait to stroke them. Stay tuned for some more visitors later this week….

Crime Scene Investigation (Hawkstone)

As part of British Science Week, children spent their science lesson investigating a crime scene to work out (from gathered evidence) who had stolen the after-school club biscuits!

       

Children visited the crime scene and were introduced to the crime and what they needed to do to solve it. There were 4 suspects and children analysed ink from a ransom note (using chromatography), examined a footprint and fibres found at the crime scene and analysed biscuit crumbs left at the scene to help them decide which of our suspects was guilty.

   

    

Children were very excited to be part of the investigation and came up with some incredible explanations of who had committed the crime. Well done for your participation!

Super half term writing!

We had lots of super writing from many children over the half term. The children were very pleased to receive a medal and have their work displayed on the wall. Keep it up Hawkstone!
