What a lovely 2 weeks back. Children have come back ready to learn and have thrown themselves into our new topics ‘Animal Safari’ and ‘Creep, Crawl and Wiggle’. Children have enjoyed talking about their favourite animals, creating beautiful pictures of the animals around them from minibeasts to larger animals from around the world and enjoying a range of stories around our topic. We have been super busy and we hope tapestry reflects just some of the fun activities we have been doing. We are excited for even more fun and learning in coming weeks.

If children do activities away from school that they wish to share with their friends, especially to do with our topics, please feel free to send pictures across via email, share on tapestry or pass to a member of staff as we love hearing what the children have been up to outside of school.

Children have enjoyed being outside and beginning to prep in our Tiny Explorers area ready for a summer of growing lots of flowers and produce and we have even managed a couple of days eating our snack out in the sunshine. Long may that continue.

You may have noticed a new face in our room since coming back. We have welcomed Miss Lauren who will be with us on a full time basis in nursery. The children have all taken to her very well and have loved having somebody new to share their stories with.

With the lovely weather hopefully being upon us now, can children please make sure they are coming in with sunhats and sun cream. This should be applied before they come into school and we will reapply during the day if and when required. These should both be clearly labelled.

Understanding your child and Early Years Screen Use

What a fab half term we are having! Children have thrown themselves into our new topic. They have had fun learning about spring and what we might see in the coming months and children have started to learn about what we grow in the world around us and the important job that farmers do. We have learnt all about life cycles and the children have been lucky enough to have been gifted some frogspawn which we are now carefully looking after in the hope that we can see the life cycle of the frog before our very eyes.

We have been enjoying our new outdoor area and our new balance bikes and the children have been enjoying this lovely and very welcome change in weather over the last few days. We all have our fingers crossed that it continues!

You may have noticed our update on tapestry regarding collections. We hope this new method will make the collection process quicker and easier for both children and parents. Any important messages will be uploaded to tapestry daily, however if parents wish to speak to a member of staff, please feel free to wait until the children have left and we will always be available to speak to personally. Again if anybody is struggling to access their tapestry portal, please let a member of staff know and we will endeavour to resolve this issue.

It is our last week before half term next week and we will be having lots of fun doing some Easter activities and our Easter Bonnet or Easter Garden competition is running next Wednesday if children wish to partake.

Children have come back to school in good spirits. We have started our new topic ‘Let it Grow’ and ‘Jump into Spring’ and children have enjoyed beginning to learn where food comes from and the importance of farmers. They have utilised our new farm shop within the room and children have enjoyed being the shop keeper and the customer. We have explored fruits and vegetables and children have enjoyed doing number games and matching games around these and the animals we find at the farm.

We began to read the Gigantic Turnip, and children have enjoyed telling me what other animals could help to pull the turnip up. They have also used lots of different words to describe the turnip so if everything at home is ‘massive’, ‘ginormous’ and ‘huge’…now you know why!

Over the half term, our outdoor area was revamped. We are very proud of how it has turned out and we have enjoyed taking full advantage of our new space this week….we are not sure about you, but we are sure we saw the sun for a couple of days!!

We are excited to continue our learning next week but until then, have a lovely weekend. Be sure to check tapestry for updates of what your child has been up to.

We are having such a great term so far. Sorry for the lack of updates, we are still here, we are still taking plenty of pictures and i hope you are able to see some of the fun we are having via our tapestry portal. If there are any children who are struggling to access their tapestry accounts, please let me know. You may have noticed children are coming home with a little less craft. As parents ourselves, we know how sometimes these crafts can get lost so we thought we would create a scrapbook of crafts for each child during their time with us, so whilst they will come home with some bits, don’t panic, we are creating a full book of masterpieces behind the scenes.

Children’s current interests seem to be around cutting and sticking, with them asking lots to do an activity where they can practise their scissor skills. So we were only happy to oblige. Children have shown great perseverance to an activity that is often quite tricky and they have managed to create some lovely pictures, using their knowledge of shapes at the same time.

Children are showing such great progress in their development and we couldn’t be more proud of their achievements. Have a lovely weekend and we will see you all next week for the last week before half term.

Apologies for the lack of updates over the last couple of weeks, we have been busy busy busy. Rest assured we have been keeping busy with lots of craft, and whilst you may not have seen it coming home with children, we are keeping it all nice and safe to send home at the end of term.

Children have enjoyed lots of activities over the last few weeks, we have been busily readying ourselves for Christmas, with the arrival of Santa’s workshop in our classroom. The children have enjoyed being little elves and wrapping the presents. Mrs Edwards has enjoyed using Danny Go’s Christmas song to help children ‘Close the boxes up. Don’t forget to wrap it up. Put a little bow on top and pass it, pass it, pass it, pass it’. They have taken turns and played beautifully in the area together.

Children have made a wreath for our door, which they have helped forage for and taken turns in putting bits in. We hope you like it!

We have been busy rehearsing for our Nativity with Hawkstone in a couple of weeks time. Singing is really coming on and we can’t wait to share it with you all. Please note the change of one performance on the letter coming home with your children, sorry for any inconvenience.

We have continued to do lots of work on our mark making and children have shown a particular interest in practising their cutting skills. This has been a pleasure to watch and children are really showing perseverance in using their scissors.

We hope children have a restful weekend ready for our last two weeks of term with lots of festivities starting with our Christmas lunch on Wednesday.
