This week, we started our new history focus, the Ancient Greeks, by exploring artefacts and asking carefully thought-out historical questions to help us draw out evidence about about life during this time period. We were able to make quite a lot of – tentative – observations.
It is, of course, SATs week next week. I feel that the Year 6 pupils have worked incredibly hard to address their areas of development in reading, spelling and grammar and mathematics and are as ready as they will ever be. It is time to show off all that you can do, folks! There are no special requirements for SATs week in terms of what children need to bring into school. PE sessions will continue in the afternoons as usual so really, it is business as usual!
I have set a very short homework task for this week, which can be found in the homework section below (a paper copy has also been sent home). I have kept the homework requirements small this weekend as I have instructed the children to have a restful weekend and to come in ready to smash their SATs on Monday!
Our certificate winners this week are James, who was awarded the writing certificate for his excellent annotation work in history, and Emilia, who was awarded the red certificate for being exceptionally helpful. Nothing is ever too much trouble for Emilia and I can always rely on her to lend a hand, whatever the job that needs doing.
Finally, pop over to our school news page to find out about this month’s writing competition and to see last month’s winners!
That’s it from me – have a fabulous weekend!
