Arriving at School

Arriving at schoolThe gates open at 8:40am and children should come straight onto the playground. They can play outside or go straight into class during inclement weather. A bell is rung at 8.55am for morning registration. We expect the children to be on time for school. A member of staff is on duty every morning from 8.40am to welcome the children and supervise them in the playground. Parents, of younger children particularly, are expected to wait with them until 8.55am when teachers collect their classes from the playground, as we cannot accept liability for children before the start of the school day. For safety reasons, a responsible adult must meet all Reception and Key Stage 1 children at the end of the school day. The teacher in charge of the classroom will not send children out until they are sure they will be safe. If there is ever a problem and parents are delayed, please be assured that we will look after your children until you arrive.

All children have a playtime during the morning for 15 minutes. In all but the most inclement weather the children are encouraged to make use of the outside environment and should therefore have a coat available. . Nursery, Reception & KS1 children also have a 15 minute break at 2.30pm. During the morning break the children are encouraged to have a healthy snack. Reception and KS1 children are provided with a piece of fruit, KS2 children can either bring in a piece of fruit or vegetable. Under 5’s also receive free school milk. Throughout the day (both during lessons and break times) children are able to access fresh water to drink.
