Welcome back

Welcome back everybody. We hope you have had a lovely half term. The children have all come back eager to learn and can we say, with some beautiful manners. We have been blown away by how polite everybody has been and they have been doing some lovely sharing.

This week, we have started our new topic, Marvellous Machines. We have looked at lots of machines we might see everyday and talked about the jobs that they do. We have used an oven, a kettle and a blender to help make our soup. All of the children tried really hard to help peel, cut and blend the soup and they were able to tell us how they can stay safe in the kitchen. We made vegetable soup and for most of the children, they really enjoyed trying it once made.

Children have also been exploring puppets. What puppets are, how there are different types of puppets and how we can use them to tell a story. Children have enjoyed using stick puppets from familiar books such as The Gingerbread Man, to retell the story they recognise. I think they have enjoyed the fox eating the poor Gingerbread man a little too much. Further to this, they have enjoyed lots of mark making opportunities, some junk modelling, where they have made a machine of their choice and done lots of work on their shapes of the week and colours. Our outdoor area has been very leafy, as you may have noticed, and children have enjoyed helping clear paths from leaves using the brush and picking them up to keep us safe from slipping. They have also utilised the many leaves we have, by making sure our hedgehog house has lots of lovely bedding just incase we should have some little visitors.

Now the weather is changing, children are welcome to bring in wellies and all in one suits to wear when we are outside as we do go outside in all weathers. What better activity is there to do than jump in those puddles.
